My entire life I've had the distinct pleasure of having idiots call me by my last name, thinking it's my first. Some of my earliest memories of this come from school when we'd have a substitute teacher. The first time I remember this happening I was in the second grade. She went down the list reading off names just as she was supposed to. Even though they were listed last, first she would read them all correctly, first last. And then she got to me, "Robert Matthews?" I sighed and said "present".

This continues to this day. I can't tell you how fucking much this pisses me off. I don't mind being called Robert. It's the principle of the matter. These idiots see my name and even though it's in the same fucking format as everybody elses, somehow in their head I'm special enough to have my name listed differently and my last name is now my first. This annoys me to no end. And now at my job I get emails from people all the time with them calling me Robert. I usually respond to them and call them by their last name. I have yet to get anybody to realize, or at least mention they realized how they screwed up.

I took a screen shot of this happening just now because this is the THIRD time this has happened TODAY. Three different idiots, one common mistake.

I told Donna to handle this guy because I'm sick of dealing with these fucking morons. I can't do it anymore. Thank god this project is over soon. If this was a real, full time benefit job, I wouldn't last.

With this particular email I couldn't sign anything. It was sent out by the company but it said "Matt Roberts" on it. They just look at how Outlook displays the name in the To field, apparently. However, in my personal signature on my emails I have my name there and it is "Matt Roberts", as you can see in this new screen shot of my first victory!
